Find hundreds of unusual varieties in plant sale

It’s springtime indoors, too, as African violets show off their April flowers.

See scores of plants in full bloom during the annual Capital City African Violet Society show and sale this weekend, April 6 and 7, at Shepard Garden and Arts Center, 3330 McKinley Blvd., Sacramento.

Beautiful African violets will be displayed in the judged show, exhibiting unusual varieties at their best.

Crowds come early for the plant sale, featuring hundreds of young plants in African violet varieties unavailable at area nurseries. It’s a great way to put together an indoor flower garden in one stop.

Check out the winners and learn how to care for your
own African violets.
Learn how to repot and care for violets as well as pick up special growing soil and ceramic pots. Show hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
