Create the perfect environment for plants indoors -- under glass. And this garden workshop includes tipping a few glasses, too.
Learn the basics and much more about terrarium gardens at a "Swig and Dig" workshop, presented by Exotic Plants.
Set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, this fun evening will be held inside the climate controlled jungle of Exotic Plants' new location, 1525 Fulton Ave., Sacramento.
For $50, get everything you need to create a "Tropical Cloche Terrarium," including the terrarium, plants and supplies. The DIY session also features expert instruction plus advice on terrarium care.
A popular terrarium style, "cloche" refers to the large glass bell. Named for a style of French hat, the cloche was traditionally used to protect tender plants in the spring kitchen garden. The thick glass helps control temperature as well as humidity. (It protects from bugs and bunnies, too.)
Light refreshments will be served during the 90-minute class. Bring your own beverage of choice.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite.com or at Exotic Plants. Deadline for online reservations is 2 p.m. July 24. Details: www.exoticplantsltd.com or 916-922-4769.
