Celebrate Veterans Day weekend with an informative tour focused on Sacramento’s effort during World War II.
At 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, the Historic City Cemetery hosts “Veterans of World War II,” a special tour on a special day.
“Step back into the days of World War II,” say the organizers. “Sacramento was a busy place during the war. You’ll meet the local men and women who served our country and learn about victory gardens, rationing, Rosie the Riveter, scrap and blood drives, and much, much more.”
Open to all ages, the tour is free; donations are welcome. Free parking is available on surrounding surface streets. Wear comfortable shoes; this is a walking tour. Meet at the main gate, 1000 Broadway, Sacramento.
While learning Sacramento history, enjoy the cemetery’s world-famous gardens in their fall splendor. Several roses are still in bloom or setting unusual (and brightly colored) hips. Lots of fall foliage is on display, too.
